Cousin Sisters by blood but best friends by choice. We are there for each other through all the good and bad of life; whilst juggling busy careers.  Our bond has allowed us to become the best versions of ourselves.  Never the less, you may be wondering, how both our first name is Asinati. Well, Asinati is our Late Grandmother, whom we believe is still guiding us through all life has to offer. Her name was passed down to us by our parents as per Chagga (Tribe originated in Moshi Region of Tanzania) customs. 

Our passion for design is derived from our family designers whom have been in design industry (Architecture & Interior design) for decades. Their influence has paid a huge aspect in our venture in design and organization. There isn’t any family gathering or café dates  that you wouldn’t find us sitting discussing and analyzing interior spaces and design elements for an upcoming residential project or for knowledge purposes.

Fast forward to today, our sisterhood has led us to take a leap of faith together and create KYEN in pursuit of our passion for interior design and working for ourselves whilst doing something we looove.

We pour all our interior organizational knowledge and experience in our residential projects with hope to inspire others to create spaces that becomes their peace.

Asinati Eliafie; Business Head & Co-Creative Director

Asinati’s desire to create unique interiors for clients and their homes inspires the Kyen team through a passion for Interiors and bespoke detailing. With an eye on the big picture, Asinati is  always pushing the boundaries on what we can achieve and how to grow the company. She’s born a sales and marketing girl with over 10 years of experience in the advertising industry . She might not be an expert, but she’s a natural. Her wealth of industry knowledge and expertise has provided clients with well-designed, stylish interiors, often forming the basis of long-lasting working relationships. She loves a timeline and has the suppliers arriving onsite like clockwork (which is no mean feat). Asinati prides herself in being a strategic problem solver with flexibility to  work with different budgets. She is a firm believer that good design and great style is intuitive and has a passion for bringing together the details that create interiors that please, excite and surprise.

Asinati Mawalla; Lead Creative Director

Asinati is our creative director. Her job is to make everything beautiful yet functional, a challenge she relishes daily. Asinati has design in her blood as she doubles working alongside her father Architectural Firm as Project Coordinator & Creative Designer. Her eye for design is impeccable and we see this in her vision boards, floor plans, tile selections, color schemes and furniture styling. She also loves to get onsite and design on the fly. She has a strong belief that every aspect of the design process is equally important and experience has taught her that only by nurturing a team ethos that pays meticulous attention to every detail, is it possible to create truly successful design – and at the end of that process, there is no greater thrill than walking through a fully realized and completed space that will evolve with use.
