A Vintage Vision That Almost Was

Not every project makes it to completion. But some visions are simply too beautiful not to be shared.

This was one of them — a warm, character-filled vintage home nestled in Moshi. We were engaged to reimagine the living room, study area, and dining room, giving them a fresh yet timeless lift. Though the project didn’t go live, our design direction remains one of my personal favorites. A fusion of old soul, thoughtful texture, and quiet sophistication.

So here’s a look inside our design thinking — the story behind a project that never fully came to life, but still continues to inspire us.

Designing with Nostalgia and Intention

The bones of the home were beautiful — soft edges, rich patina, and natural light that poured in like a quiet embrace. Our approach was to honour that vintage spirit while bringing in fresh energy, layering soft palettes and natural materials to create cohesion across the open-plan layout.

Our moodboards became the canvas — grounding each space with earthy tones, tactile fabrics, and heirloom-inspired textures.

The Vision, Space by Space

Living Room

Reading room area

The smallest of the three spaces, but one we were most excited about. We envisioned a charming reading nook — with open shelving, a plush single-seater, a touch of vintage storage, and a mobile bar cart for flair. A mix of function and personality.

Dining Room

The anchor of the home. Rustic textures met soft drapery here. We combined slipcovered chairs, a round wood table, and statement pendant lighting to create a space that felt both intimate and open. It was meant to host everything from solo mornings to celebratory dinners.

What This Project Taught Us

Although this project never went to site, it reminded me why the early stages — the visioning, the moodboarding, the material swatching — are so powerful. It’s where creativity is purest, before budgets and walls come into play.

This was a case where the vision was real, even if the build wasn’t.

Until Next Time

Every design journey leaves a mark — even the ones that don’t go all the way.
Here’s to honoring the unseen, the unbuilt, and the almosts that still shape who we are as designers and dreamers.

Have you ever had a space you dreamed of transforming but never got to finish?
We’d love to hear about it — and we’d be happy to work together to bring it to life when the time is right.
