MASAKI PROJECT REVEAL
We are excited to be revealing our residential project for a beautiful Family of three residing in Masaki, Dar es Salaam. This space is complete with a blend of both warm & cool colors, reading nook, styled bookshelves, and various textiles, these spaces quickly became a favorite.
The homeowner contacted Kyen with her desire to update their apartment home. She loved the location but knew the place could need a makeover. She also had lovely books & art collection that she wanted to be in cooperated into the space. These served as the inspiration for the design and homage to her love for simplicity.
Keeping the original floor plan, the dining room wall became the focal point. We created a separate entertainment area and reading nook. Functional space planning was paramount, with purpose of sufficient storage space in every corner.
There was plenty of empty wall space between the dining room and living room; we opted to introducing thick wood shelves as a focal wall. We featured some of the books, pictures and art from the homeowner’s collection. The wooden shelves complimented the wooden dining table which was purchased from Ashley Home. Both were constructed out of mninga wood and linen fabric dining chairs completed the look.
We introduced a print accent chair to tie in with the dark grey wall in the room. We grounded the arm chair with a medium size rattan, natural inspired rug. We believe any rug that has a higher percentage of rattan will be a much better quality rug that will last for years and years.
As you approach the kitchen ,we introduced a stunning wooden console table and worn out wooden mirror as another storage/ drop off area. A refined look was accomplished through the combination of dark hardwood cabinetry and white touch kept the room feeling airy.
For the styling, we mixed in various elements that tied in with the rest of the room. We used glass vases on the dining & side tables to emphases on the minimalism aspect of the space. Special care was taken to combine new and existing materials and details into a cohesive design.
We hope you've enjoyed the photo tour of this beautiful dining room. Stay tuned for more projects coming to the blog soon. This was a special project for us; we especially want to thank the homeowner Sarah, for trusting our team to bring her ideas to life.
